  • Amazon has an Apple Store?

    Updated: 2009-11-29 15:11:00
I didn't realilze Amazon had an Apple Store. I've always found Apple stuff there by searching on it, this is much better. Unfortunately today they are listing very few iMacs, I wonder if the supply has run out.Incidentally, the above link is from Gruber's Daring Fireball, so if you use it and buy I think he should get the credit.--My Google Reader Shared items (feed)

  • Why Apple's Notes.app and Voice Memos.app are newly on my home screen

    Updated: 2009-11-27 17:26:00
One of the design principles of the original PalmPilot was "no delays". In the time it took to get to the Newton's note pad, the PalmPilot and Palm III user would have entered their task item and put the device away.I miss that philosophy. It takes about 30 seconds for may of my 3G iPhone 3rd party apps to accomplish simple tasks.Apple's apps are much faster - though still not as fast as the Palm III native apps. So even though I like the 3rd party alternatives much better, Apple's Notes.app and "Voice Memos.app" are back on my home screen. The better apps are just too slow.

And today we’re tackling another in a surprisingly long series of that most misunderstood and neglected of home theater equipment pieces, the receiver.  Today’s target, the Denon AVR-890, shows that you generally get what you pay for, and if not specifically what you pay for, then at least you’ll get a lot presuming you pay [...]

  • Sweet Home Theater Setups - Le Cinema Du Paris

    Updated: 2009-11-27 07:04:08
Apologies to the Francophiles in the audience–my Francaise is a bit on the rusty side–if I screwed up those genders, but the thrust of the title remains.  Today we’re talking about a sweet home theater setup that has a decidedly Parisian theme. Jason Crist, a Tennessee homeowner, decided that the chances of him getting to Paris [...]

Recently introduced was a new addition to the Stewart lineup, the Slimline CineCurve projection screen. Now, CineCurves [...]

  • Sweet Home Theater Setups - The High Rise Theater

    Updated: 2009-11-27 07:03:36
You might not think that a New York high rise theater would be the best place for a sweet home theater setup.  After all, these places are mostly glass and steel–the sunlight alone would be horrendous.  And besides, who wants to distract from all those incredible views of the city by blocking windows with hardware? Well, [...]

You’d figure that a big-deal company like Amazon would be ready to trot out some seriously awesome home theater deals, right?  Doubly so since they’re one of the biggest vendors on the web today!  But as it turns out, compared to the brick-and-mortar stores’ offerings, Amazon seems almost shockingly nonchalant about its doorbuster fare.  There [...]
