    All HP printer drivers are included in most distros .iso images. It's true that HP's Driver packages can be around 300MB for Windows but your claims are simply untrue. I used to work in retail and have sold and repaired thousands of HP products. HP has been completely standard since at least 2003. They had their own BIOS but often a manufacturer's BIOS could be flashed on it. HP has been one of Linux's biggest supporters over the years and I'm glad to see them do this. - Shaun Hunter

    While I'm not expert enough to have any real problems with this transition. I do have a problem with it being thrown in to Fedora so close to the branching of Rawhide into F17. Just like the planned inclusion of systemd, which was to be placed into rawhide one week before the branch to F14 and eventually held back, the /usr transition should be held in rawhide until it's thoroughly tested. As a fedora user, I like the fact that I get to use and test the latest innovations, but, I don't see the need to make such radical changes so close to branching. This switch should have been made in rawhide a couple of months ago. - GoinEasy9

    This was a nice article, but I do not like the news itself. HP is usually one of the worst (from what I have seen) about following standards. They are probably unable to write any sort of program under 300MB; they have printer drivers that are 3GB, and I'm not even kidding. I see this as a way for them to just use the open source community to make themselves money. If they truly wanted to contribute to the community, then they would have open sourced it to begin with -- not after they realized they aren't able to do it well. - Derek Menteer
