: Dream Chaser On Wheels Are You Ready For Saturday Main Redemption September 22, 2009 Worse For Wear I don't have much to write about my race at Northshore 2009. With incredibly bad timing , I was still am fighting a bad case of cold for the entire weekend . I tried my hardest to keep the sickness at bay but it did affect me more than I hoped it . would Traveling to Duluth was tremendously hectic due to various reasons . I was stressed out by reasons totally unrelated to racing and hit the sack by the early hours of 9pm under the influence of Neo Citran . I woke up at 4:15 by the first beep of my alarm which is entirely out of character for me . 0160 Body felt alright under the circumstances but I sweated buckets during my warm up . Now that I think about it , that was not quite . normal My race can be summed up in a few sentences . I tripped over the timing mat . I missed the pack . I skated solo and caught the pack eventually . ME and SaH attacked soon after but I had nothing left in my legs . I skated solo . I caught and eventually dropped NM . I skated solo once again until end of . race Skating to the finish line . Photo by inlinepics.com My number one priority now is to rest

All the more reasons why I appreciate the lack of stress this year Expectation is so tightly tied to an athlete's mindset . When I can harness it , it can be the biggest source of motivation and it drives me to out-perform what I think I'm capable of . However , when it gets the better of me , it can wreck havoc on both mind and body . This year I focus on transitioning to the pro category . I have few results-based goals and thus can easily treat every race as a learning opportunity . This change in attitude allows me to get the most positive experience and not worry about my competitors . Instead , I concentrate on what I can do in different race scenarios , learning how to deal with both good days and bad days . A very important lesson that I learn is
