What is the product when 1-iodo-1,1-dimethylbutane is heated in H2O?a. no reactionb. an alcoholc. an alkened. a mixture of an alcohol and alkeneWill elimination occur, and an alkene will form?I am a bit confused because water is a weak nucleophile. From knowing general synthesis reactions, a base and heat added to an alky halide will form an alkene while an acid and heat added to an alcohol will form an alkene.Thank you.

Acids, Bases & Salts are very important chapter in GCE O Levels Chemistry (IB Chemistry and IP Chemistry).
In fact, there are considered heavy-weightage topics (in terms of marks as well as content) that are related to many other chemistry topics. Many students lost their interest in Chemistry as early as Sec 3 / Year 3 [...]
I added a crowdsourcing component to ChemFeeds that allows users to vote-up chemistry papers they enjoy. For those uninitiated to ChemFeeds, the website displays the latest graphical abstracts from ACS, RSC, and Wiley. As all things involving crowdsourcing and chemists are unpopular, I doubt it’ll be used much. But enjoy anyways.
